Satellite image of the month - November 2020

Like the tentacles of a giant octopus, the Betsiboka River runs through the countryside of northern Madagascar.

The spectacular colours and contrasts in our satellite image of the month are created by combining different wavelength ranges from signals recorded by satellites.

The clearly visible brownish discolouration of the river indicates a high sediment load. Especially during the rainy season a lot of eroded material is transported into the river delta.
